U.S. ENVOYS LEAVE KYIV WITHOUT BREAK-THROUGH IN UKRAINE PEACE PUSHORMUZ AS DIPLOMATIC PUSH INTENSIFIES KYIV, September 7, 2026 — GPC.NEWS — U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have concluded talks in Kyiv without announcing a breakthrough in efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine, underscoring the deep divisions that continue to complicate Washington's diplomatic push. The American delegation met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after earlier discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as the Trump administration attempts to find a framework acceptable to both Moscow and Kyiv. Zelenskyy described the talks with the U.S. representatives as substantive but made clear that Ukraine continues to insist on credible security guarantees and protection against future Russian aggression. Kyiv is also pressing its partners for additional air-defense capabilities, including Patriot systems, as Russian missile and drone attacks continue to threaten cities and critical infrastructure. The diplomatic effort comes as Ukraine prepares for another difficult winter, with energy infrastructure remaining particularly vulnerable to Russian strikes.
